Competition Dance Teams
Ovation's competition teams train and perform at competitions, conventions and local events during a season that runs August through May. There are five levels: Spotlight (ages 6-8) and Limelight (ages 8-10) for beginner dancers at 2 to 3 hours a week, Premiere (11+) at 4 to 5 hours, Bravo (12+) for intermediate dancers at 4+ hours, and Encore (12+) for advanced dancers at 5+ hours. Dancers submit a Team Interest Form by June 1 and complete at least 16 hours of summer technical training, during which instructors evaluate them. Placements are announced in late July before Team Choreography Camp; spots are limited.

Middle School / High School Dance Program
Ovation's program for dancers in grades 6 to 12, both those continuing their training and those trying dance for the first time. Classes are grouped by age and experience, and placement also considers individual goals. Styles offered include ballet, hip hop, jazz, tap, lyrical and contemporary, and acro, though availability and levels may vary by season. The program works on strength, coordination, technique, artistry and performance skills.

Tiny Stars Dance (Ages 3-4)
Tiny Stars is Nielsen School of Dance's 40-minute introductory class for 3 and 4 year olds. Children dance to a variety of music with props, sing along to basic tap and ballet songs, and work on motor skills, coordination, creative thinking and the social side of being in a class. The studio is at 235 3rd Ave E in Twin Falls.
When: The 2026-27 season began September 8, 2026. The studio's registration form lists two 40-minute classes for 3 and 4 year olds on Wednesdays: 3:55 to 4:35 PM (pre-ballet/creative) and 5:45 to 6:25 PM (pre-ballet/jazz). New students are accepted until classes fill or through October 2026.

Twinkle Stars Dance (Ages 4-5)
Twinkle Stars is a 55-minute class for 4 and 5 year olds that introduces the basic steps of ballet, tap and jazz. Dancers learn to follow instructions and dance classroom etiquette, explore rhythm, and use props and imagery to build fine motor skills and creativity. Classes are at the studio at 235 3rd Ave E, Twin Falls.
When: The 2026-27 registration form lists two 55-minute combo classes (pre-ballet/jazz and tap) for 4 and 5 year olds: Mondays 10:00 to 10:55 AM and Tuesdays 4:15 to 5:10 PM. The season began September 8, 2026.

Shooting Stars Dance (Ages 5-7)
Shooting Stars is a 55-minute class for ages 5 to 7 covering the primary steps of ballet, tap and jazz. It blends rhythm, movement, song, coordination and concentration, and teaches proper form gently. Classes are at the studio at 235 3rd Ave E, Twin Falls.
When: The 2026-27 registration form lists these early-grade combo classes: kindergarten to 2nd grade on Tuesdays, 3:55 to 4:50 PM (pre-ballet/tap), and 1st to 2nd grade on Wednesdays, 4:15 to 5:10 PM (jazz/ballet and tap). The season began September 8, 2026.

Stargazer Dance Co. (Ages 9-13)
For ages 9 to 13, the Stargazer Dance Co., Nielsen School of Dance's competition team, has two levels: Starshooters/Starburst (ages 9 to 12) and Juniors (ages 12 to 14). Team members practice about 2 to 6 hours a week, in classes twice a week plus 1 to 3 hours on select Saturdays. They perform at area basketball games, the IDAA showcase and recitals, compete three to four times a year and attend one national convention. Placement is through a clinic.

Stargazer Dance Co. (Ages 13+)
Teen dancers on the Stargazer Dance Co., Nielsen School of Dance's competition team, dance at the Juniors (ages 12 to 14) or Seniors (ages 12 to 18) level. The team, formed about thirty years ago, has been named Hoctor's national dance team champion five times. Members train twice a week plus select Saturdays, compete three to four times a year, attend one national convention and perform at local events. New members are placed through a clinic judging technique, personality and how quickly they learn routines.

Competition Dance Teams
Grace Dance Academy's competition program, The Vessel Company, is audition-based and split into five teams by age and level: Mini Novice, Beginner Juniors, Intermediate Select Juniors, Intermediate, and Advanced Select. Auditions are held each spring: dancers start with ballet, move to across-the-floor progressions such as turns and leaps, then learn a short combination and perform it in small groups. The teams compete at 3 to 5 competitions a year, ending at Nationals at Lagoon.
When: Team rehearsals are on Mondays between 4:15 and 8:45 PM, with each team in its own time slot. The teen company also has Vessel Ballet on Wednesdays, 5:45 to 6:30 PM, and a Vessel technique, stretch and devotions session runs Thursdays, 7:30 to 8:45 PM.
