Both styles draw on ballet and jazz: lyrical centers on telling a story and expressing emotion through fluid movement, while modern explores space, time and energy through a range of techniques. Dancers wear a leotard with footless tights or leggings and dance barefoot, though bear claws or foot thongs are allowed.

Ballet & Pointe

Levels on the fall 2026 schedule are Beginning Jazz for ages 5-8, Jazz Intermediate for ages 8-10 and Jazz I for ages 11 and up. Dancers wear a leotard or T-shirt with leggings, pants or shorts (no jeans) and black jazz shoes.
Parent & Tot Movement (Walking–Age 3)
A parent-and-tot creative movement class at Art & Soul Dance Academy for walking toddlers through age 3, with a caregiver. Introduces rhythm, coordination, and movement through play.
Tap
Tap classes at Art & Soul Dance Academy in Hailey, from beginner to advanced. Levels on the fall 2026 schedule are Tap IA for new beginners ages 5-8, Tap IB for ages 5-8, Tap II and Tap III, with a separate adult tap class. Dancers wear comfortable clothes they can move in (no jeans) and black tap shoes, with hair tied up and secured.
Tumbling
Tumbling classes at Art & Soul Dance Academy in Hailey, taught in six levels from Primary Tumbling through Tumbling 1, II, III and IIII to Advanced. Students wear a leotard, with leggings or shorts if they like, and tumble without shoes, with hair tied up and secured. Boys wear a T-shirt with pants or shorts (no jeans).
