Summer Reading Program - Burley

Burley Public Library's summer reading challenge, a six-week program for children, teens and adults. Parents set weekly reading goals for children, who earn a prize each week they meet them and extra prizes for activities in their reading passport. Teens set their own goals and enter weekly drawings for local gift cards. The summer also brings free events, including Thursday activities at Storybook Park, Summer STEAM on Wednesdays, a weekly art camp and summer storytime.

For its weekly Confidence Through Art classes (ages 5 and up), the library charges nothing and requires no registration, so a child can attend any single class. Supplies are provided.

Classic Movie Club (All Ages)

Free monthly all-ages film club at Burley Public Library screening classic movies on the second Friday evening of each month, running year-round. A no-cost family movie night in a small city with few evening options.

Confidence Through Art: Adult and Me (Ages 0-5)

A free weekly art class for young children with a participating adult, part of the Burley Public Library's Confidence Through Art program, held in the Children's Area and led by library interns. Each week has a theme; recent sessions included penguins, Starry Night, snowflakes, bugs and dragons. Supplies are provided and no registration is needed.

Confidence Through Art: Beginner (Ages 6-9)

The beginner class of the Burley Public Library's free Confidence Through Art program, taught by Miss Lacie and Miss Josie in the Community Room. Each week covers a different medium or technique; last season's projects used watercolor and oil pastels, cut paper, acrylic painting, charcoal, rock painting, origami, modeling clay and scratch art. Supplies are provided and no registration is needed.

Confidence Through Art: Intermediate (Ages 10+)

Free weekly art class at the Burley Public Library for older kids and teens, best suited to intermediate artists ages 10 and up. The top tier of the library's three-level Confidence Through Art program, with a longer hour-long session.

Creative Corner: Creative Writing Club (Ages 11+)

Free Friday-afternoon creative writing club for tweens and teens at Burley Public Library, starting October 2, 2026. A recurring space to write, share and workshop original fiction and poetry with peers.

Dungeons & Dragons: Ages 15+

The Burley Public Library runs three additional alternating-week Dungeons & Dragons tables for players 15 and up: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Materials are provided and drop-in players are welcome. Staged as one record covering all three 15+ tables because they share an age gate, a format and a cost; a player simply picks whichever weekday suits them.

Dungeons & Dragons: Teen Table (Ages 13+)

Alternating-Thursday Dungeons & Dragons campaign table at the Burley Public Library, open to players 13 and up. Characters, dice and rulebooks are provided by the library and no experience is necessary. This is the library's youngest-entry tabletop table: its Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday tables are gated at 15+.

Family Book Club (All Ages)

A monthly family book club at the Burley Public Library. Families read the month's book, then come to the library to watch a film version and talk about how the two differ. The first 10 families each month get a free copy of the book to keep. Drinks and snacks are served, and a parent or guardian must stay with children under 12. This season's titles include Heidi, Coraline, Bridge to Terabithia and Matilda.

Full STEAM Ahead (Ages 8-14)

Bi-weekly hands-on STEAM program in the Burley Public Library community room, exploring science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics through rotating projects such as craft-stick bridges, paper-chain challenges and lava lamps. Geared to ages 8-14; all ages welcome, though younger children may need help with some activities.

Music & Movement (Ages 3-6)

A dance-and-move story time at the Burley Public Library led by Miss Josie, combining roughly 3-5 songs with 2 books each week. Kids get up and move along to music videos between stories. Best for ages 3-6; all ages welcome.

Story Time - Burley Library (Ages 0-6)

Burley Public Library holds two free weekly storytimes in its Community Room during the school year, one on Tuesdays and one on Thursdays with Miss Carol. Each session mixes picture books, songs and activities; the Thursday session reads 3-4 books and adds songs or fingerplays and a craft. Storytime is aimed at toddlers and preschoolers, and all ages are welcome.

Storylab with the Burley Discovery Museum (All Ages)

Free every-other-Monday morning session at Burley Public Library run in partnership with the Burley Discovery Museum, combining stories with hands-on discovery-play activities. Open to all ages; no library card required.

Storytime with Miss Carol (All Ages)

Thursday-morning storytime led by volunteer Miss Carol in the library's Community Room, one of two weekly storytimes along with the Tuesday session. Each session includes 3-4 picture books, a few songs or fingerplays, and a craft. It is best for ages 0-6, and all ages are welcome.
