Kuna Library District

Family Fun Zone is a free midweek afternoon at the Kuna Library District where school-age kids and their adults spend time together playing games and doing activities. It is held in the Owl Programs Room as one of the library's after-school programs.

Game Day Friday is a free after-school games session for school-age kids at the Kuna Library District, with a different kind of game each week. Fall 2026 themes include cooperative games, dice games, number games, logic games and puzzles, dexterity games, card games and chess. It is held in the Owl Programs Room.

Homeschoolers @ The Library is a free one-hour Friday morning program open to all families with school-age children. Kids do arts and crafts and STEM projects and meet special guests, following a weekly theme; fall 2026 themes include nature, learning about Idaho, engineering and the ocean, with visits from KidStrong and the Idaho Watercolor Society. A library card is not required.

Idaho Battle of the Books is a statewide, voluntary reading motivation and comprehension program for students in grades 4 to 12. Kuna Library has teams for grades 4-6, 6-8 and 9-12. Team members meet weekly, read the books on their own time, share what they read with teammates, take practice quizzes and attend a competition in spring 2027.

Kinder-Set Go! is a kindergarten-readiness program for preschoolers who will start school in fall 2027. A parent or adult caregiver attends each one-hour class with the child, and sessions build school skills through interactive play, hands-on activities and focused instruction for parents. It is held in the Owl Programs Room and is supported by Tell Me a Story/Joshua's Memorial Book Drive. Registration for 2026-27 is full; questions go to the library at (208) 922-1025.

Learn with Me! is a free class for three-year-olds and their parent or adult caregiver. It works on social and emotional growth, language and literacy, math and reasoning, and fine and gross motor skills through whole-group and small-group play, hands-on activities and focused instruction for parents. The library describes it as a collaborative program on kindergarten readiness, not a preschool. Registration is required.

LEGO Challenge gives school-age kids a new building theme each week to build on their own or in a group. Fall 2026 themes include sea creatures, tree forts, dinosaurs, bridges, bats and haunted houses. It is a free after-school program held in the Owl Programs Room.

Maker Monday is a hands-on crafting session where school-age kids try new materials, learn techniques and make something to take home. All supplies are provided and all skill levels are welcome. Projects change weekly; fall 2026 projects include pencil picture frames, felt sloth pencil toppers, melted crayon art and paper pumpkin garlands.

The Mayor's Book Club is for children in grades 4 to 6. Kids sign up at the library and receive a copy of the book (one per family, limited quantities), read it on their own, then come back to discuss it with Kuna's mayor, and they keep the book. A child who signs up but misses the discussion waits one month before signing up for another session.

Music and Movement is a 30-minute class of singing, dancing and musical instruments for children ages 3 to 6 with their adult caregivers, though all ages are welcome. The instructor uses songs that work on both fine and gross motor skills. Children must attend with an adult caregiver, who is expected to take part. Sessions are held in the Owl Programs Room.

Play with Me! is weekly playtime for parents or caregivers and their children, with no registration required and children of all ages welcome. Activities change each week and include building with blocks, yoga storytime and toddler STEM, following a weekly theme such as space, sea animals, dinosaurs or things that move. It meets in the Owl Programs Room.

READY! for Kindergarten is a free workshop series that shows parents and caregivers of children from birth to age 5 how to 'Play With a Purpose', turning everyday moments into learning moments before school starts. Families receive free educational tools at every workshop to use at home. Workshops are grouped by child age and registration is required.

STEAM & Audiobook is a free after-school session at the Kuna Library District where school-age kids create art projects while listening to an age-appropriate audiobook. It is held in the Owl Programs Room as one of the library's weekday after-school programs. Class sizes are limited, and spots are given first-come, first-served.

Storytime at the Kuna Library District is for children ages 3 to 6 with their adult caregivers, though all ages are welcome. Children listen to stories and take part in activities that develop early literacy skills, while parents pick up tips for building those skills at home. Each week has a theme; fall 2026 themes include pirates, space, pets, pumpkins and a spooky week.

Toddle Time combines storytime, music and movement, and playtime in one session for children from birth to age 3 and their adult caregivers. It meets Monday mornings in the library's Owl Programs Room and is free. Class sizes are limited, and spots are given first-come, first-served.
