Other classes at Explorers Outdoor School of Idaho
Explorers Outdoor School: Archery (Year-round)
Archery is taught to ages 8-16 at several points in the school's week, at beginner to intermediate level, and equipment is provided. It runs within the Monday and Tuesday afternoon Forest Day classes, the Wednesday morning Rangers 4 class, and a Thursday afternoon class for ages 8-14, which is currently full. Families register through the class the archery is part of; a registration form is required and a deposit or full payment holds the spot.
Explorers Outdoor School: Chess Club
Chess Club is an afternoon club for ages 7-16, with exceptions for younger players who are ready. Beginners are introduced to the game one new piece at a time until they play on a full board, and instruction covers opening strategy and reviewing matches. Players are grouped by skill, and after the first match players who lost face each other while winners move on. The club meets in the Clubhouse; families wait by the Blue Rooster and Big Foot. Fill out the registration form; a deposit or full payment holds the spot.

Woodland Wilds is a parent-tot class for ages 18 months to 4 years, with circle time, petting farm animals, seasonal crafts, singing, motor-skill games and play in the gardens, pond, woods, mud kitchen and forts. The Wilding Family Class has families hand-feed sheep and goats, whittle, build fires, forage, make plant dyes and do seasonal projects; children 3 and under come free with a paying parent and sibling. Bring a backpack, a filled water bottle, snacks and weather layers. A registration form is required and a deposit or full payment holds the spot.
Explorers Outdoor School: Forge & Woodworking
Forge & Woodworking is a three-hour hands-on class in metal forging, with woodworking added as scheduling allows, for beginning and intermediate students. The school's page shows a gallery of student-made metal and wood pieces. The fall is split into two sessions, so students can sign up for one or both. Fill out the registration form before the first class; a deposit or full payment holds the spot.
Explorers Outdoor School: Rangers 1 (Ages 5-8)
Rangers 1 is a three-hour outdoor class for ages 5-7 (a child may turn 8 after March 1) on the school's farm, with gardens, a stream, a pond and farm animals.
