Preschool Storytime at Pinnacle (Ages 0-5)

A Monday morning storytime at the Meridian Library District's Pinnacle branch for children up to age 5 and their caregivers. Each half-hour session builds early literacy through the six practices the library teaches: read, write, talk, sing, play and count. Two identical sessions are offered, at 10:00 and 11:00 AM, in Program Room A+B. It is free.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a free reading challenge for children from birth to age 5 and their caregivers: read 1,000 books together before the child starts kindergarten. Families track each book in a reading log, printable from the library website or free at any Meridian Library District branch. Every book counts, including repeat readings and books read by siblings, teachers, daycare or library storytimes. Children earn a prize every 100 books and a grand prize at 1,000.

Baby Time (Ages 0-2)

Baby Time is a storytime for babies from 6 to 24 months and their caregivers, led by Ms. Natalie. The first half hour (10 to 10:30 AM) is lap songs, fingerplays and beginning stories; the second (10:30 to 11 AM) is stay-and-play time for babies to play and caregivers to get to know each other. Younger and older siblings are welcome. It is free, with no registration.

Books, Crafts & Snacks: Teens (Ages 14-18)

A monthly after-school program for high-school teens (ages 14 to 18) at the Orchard Park branch: a themed book talk and a craft, with snacks. October's theme is spooky vibes, and the craft is spooky rock painting. The library notes it cannot guarantee the snacks have not been in contact with tree nuts, soy or other allergens.

A monthly afternoon for middle-grade tweens (ages 11 to 13) at the Orchard Park branch: a themed book talk and a craft, with snacks. October's theme is spooky vibes, and the craft is spooky rock painting. The library notes it cannot guarantee the snacks have not been in contact with tree nuts, soy or other allergens.

Music & Movement (Pre-K, Ages 0โ€“5)

Music & Movement is a storytime built around reading, music and movement, led by Mrs. Melissa: children sing, dance and hear stories while exploring rhythm, pitch, dynamics, volume and tempo. The first 30 minutes are storytime and the second 30 are stay and play; families can come for one or both. The library lists it as ideal for children 18 months to 4 years. It was previously called Silly Song & Dance.

Pajama Storytime (Pre-K)

Pajama Storytime is a once-weekly evening storytime at the Pinnacle branch for children up to age 5. Children come in their pajamas, bring a stuffed friend, and listen to stories with milk and cookies. It is free, with no registration.

Pokรฉmon Club (All Ages)

A Pokรฉmon gathering at the Meridian Library District for beginners and experienced players: collect, trade and battle with the Pokรฉmon Trading Card Game. Families welcome. The library has basic decks and training sheets to borrow.

STEAM Lab (Ages 6-12)

Weekly hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math lab at the Meridian Library District, with a different guest or topic each week (3D printing, robots, reptiles, arthropods, LEGO, flintknapping). Ideal for ages 6-12; all ages welcome.

Storytime & Art (Ages 2-5)

Storytime & Art at the Orchard Park branch is a storytime followed by an art project, led by Ms. Erica. It is part of the Meridian Library District's free Pre-K programming, meets in the Orchard Park program room, and needs no registration.

Storytime at Storey Park (Ages 2-5)

Free outdoor storytime held at Storey Park for young children, combining stories, songs, and community play during the summer.

Summer Reading: Unearth a Story (All Ages)

Summer STEAM Lab (Ages 6-11)

Monthly summer hands-on lab exploring science, technology, engineering, art, and math for school-age kids.

Tales to Tails: Read to a Therapy Dog

Tales to Tails lets children practice reading aloud to a therapy dog, in a stress-free setting meant to support their reading skills. It is open to preschool and school-age children. The library suggests arriving a few minutes early for children who need to choose a book.

Teen Hangout (Ages 12-18)

A weekly after-school hangout for teens ages 12 to 18 in the Pinnacle branch teen space. There are free snacks and a different activity each week, with something for gamers and crafters, or teens can just relax and meet new friends. The library notes it cannot guarantee the snacks have not been in contact with tree nuts, soy or other allergens.
