Basketball Clinic (Grades K-2)

Four-week introductory basketball clinic teaching fundamentals and building court confidence. Each participant receives their own basketball to keep. Designed as preparation for the Junior Yotes 1st & 2nd grade league.

Beginner Acro (Ages 6-10)

Beginner acro class building strength, flexibility and confidence. Taught by Canyon Dance Academy in partnership with Caldwell Parks & Recreation.

Beginner Ballet (Ages 6-10)

Foundations of ballet — posture, positions, coordination and basic terminology — for dancers brand new to the art. Taught by Canyon Dance Academy. Dress code: leotard and tights or fitted dancewear, ballet shoes, hair pulled back.

Beginner Hip Hop (Ages 6-10)

High-energy beginner hip hop introducing age-appropriate basics, grooves and choreography. Taught by Canyon Dance Academy. Dress code: comfortable athletic clothing and clean sneakers.

Beginner Teen Hip Hop (Ages 11-16)

Beginner-friendly teen hip hop covering fundamentals, grooves, musicality and age-appropriate choreography. Taught by Canyon Dance Academy. Dress code: comfortable athletic clothing and clean sneakers.

Dance Foundations (Ages 6-10)

Well-rounded introduction to multiple dance styles including ballet, jazz and creative movement, for dancers who want to explore and build a strong foundation. Taught by Canyon Dance Academy.

Dynamic Cheer Squad: Juniors (Ages 8-12)

Recreational cheer squad for ages 8-12 running alongside the Caldwell Recreation flag football season.

Homeschool Karate with Shorin Ryu Karate (Ages 4+)

Daytime homeschool karate program designed to supplement a homeschool curriculum with traditional karate training, physical activity and practical self-defense. Small sessions ensure individualised attention. Instructor Ed Russell.

Jr. Yotes Basketball League

Caldwell Recreation + College of Idaho partnership youth basketball league. 5 games and 2 practices per week — a more intensive league format than typical youth rec basketball.

LEGO Engineering (Ages 6-9)

Four-week LEGO engineering class where children build and explore gearing mechanisms and motorised machines, capture wind, and experiment with balanced and unbalanced forces and friction while measuring distance, time, speed and weight. Projects include LEGO cranes, ratchet fishing poles and a gear-changing racecar. Children work in pairs to build teamwork.

Martial Arts: Shorin Ryu Karate — Peewee (Ages 4-6)

Shorin Ryu karate for the youngest students, blending traditional karate training with physical activity and practical self-defense in a small-group format with individualised attention. Instructor Ed Russell.

NFL Flag Football League (Grades K-4)

Non-contact NFL Flag Football league teaching football fundamentals, teamwork and sportsmanship. A five-game season for kindergarten through fourth graders of all skill levels; every participant receives an official NFL team jersey and flag belt.

Painting Class: Fall Theme (Ages 7-12)

Relaxed painting class where young artists learn a variety of techniques while creating seasonal designs or their own ideas. Taught by Juliee Hanlon of Smeared Paint, who holds a fine art degree from London and has 30+ years of commissioned work and murals.

Pre-Ballet (Ages 3-5)

Introduction to dance for preschoolers, exploring movement, rhythm, balance and creativity through music and games. Taught by Canyon Dance Academy in partnership with Caldwell Parks & Recreation.

Prekindergarten AM (Ages 4-5)

Three-day-a-week prekindergarten preparing four- and five-year-olds for kindergarten in the 2027-28 school year. Through play children gain independence and kindergarten-readiness skills in literacy, math, science, writing, art and music.

Prekindergarten PM (Ages 4-5)

Two-day-a-week afternoon prekindergarten preparing four- and five-year-olds for kindergarten in the 2027-28 school year, covering literacy, math, science, writing, art and music through play.

Preschool AM (Ages 3-4)

City of Caldwell preschool for children entering kindergarten in fall 2028 who are toilet trained. Builds early classroom skills, independence and social development, focusing on language, sharing, following directions, colours, shapes, letters, numbers and name recognition, plus fine motor skills.

Recreational Gymnastics at Caldwell Parks & Rec (SparkZone)

Recreational gymnastics offered through Caldwell Parks & Recreation as a satellite program of SparkZone Athletics, bringing SparkZone's coaching and curriculum to Caldwell. Preschool and youth recreational gymnastics/tumbling. Registration via the Caldwell Parks & Rec REC1 portal. (First gymnastics offering in Caldwell in the directory.)

Semi-Private Karate Classes (Ages 4+)

Focused semi-private karate instruction offering a personalised path through the Shorin Ryu curriculum. Instructor Ed Russell.

Tennis Clinic (Ages 6-9)

Introduction to tennis through drills, games and activities with instructor Lee Haskill. Players learn basic skills, rules and scoring while improving coordination, agility and court movement. Maximum eight players per coach; assistants are top varsity or collegiate players.
