Jr. Yotes Basketball League
Offered by Caldwell Parks and Recreation โJunior Yotes is a youth basketball league run by Caldwell Parks and Recreation together with the College of Idaho. Each league season lasts seven weeks and is designed for players of all experience levels, with a focus on fundamentals and teamwork. Boys and girls play in separate leagues, and every player receives a Junior Yotes jersey. Registration is through the city's online recreation catalog.

Duration: Multi-week season
Seven-week league: two practices in the first week, then two weeknight practices and one Saturday game each week for six weeks.
Seasons by grade: grades 3-4 play October 26 to December 12, 2026; grades 5-6 play January 4 to February 20, 2027, ending with a tournament; grades 1-2 play February 22 to April 10, 2027.
Cost
$70 to $75 per league season, depending on the grade group. A $10 late fee applies during the late-registration week.

Basketball Clinic (Grades K-2)
Four-week introductory basketball clinic teaching fundamentals and building court confidence. Each participant receives their own basketball to keep. Designed as preparation for the Junior Yotes 1st & 2nd grade league.
Beginner Acro (Ages 6-10)
Beginner Acro is a class for beginners ages 6 to 10 taught by Canyon Dance Academy in partnership with Caldwell Parks and Recreation. Students learn foundational acro skills, including handstands, cartwheels and bridges, along with introductory dance movements, with the focus on safe technique, coordination and body control. Dancers wear a leotard, biketard or other fitted athletic clothing and bare feet, with hair secured in a ponytail or bun.
Beginner Ballet (Ages 6-10)
Beginner Ballet is for dancers ages 6 to 10 who are brand new to ballet, taught by Canyon Dance Academy in partnership with Caldwell Parks and Recreation. The class introduces the foundations of ballet: posture, the positions, coordination and basic ballet terminology. Dancers wear a leotard and tights or other fitted dancewear, with ballet shoes and hair pulled back.
Beginner Gymnastics (Ages 7-11)
Entry-level gymnastics at Caldwell Parks & Recreation for students brand new to the sport, covering basic skills and shapes across vault, bars, beam and floor. Each class opens with a warm-up game and stretches, then focuses on one skill for the week. The registration catalog lists these sessions as girls' classes.
Beginner Hip Hop (Ages 6-10)
Beginner Hip Hop introduces dancers ages 6 to 10 to age-appropriate hip hop basics, grooves and choreography. It is taught by Canyon Dance Academy in partnership with Caldwell Parks and Recreation, and no dance experience is needed. Dancers wear comfortable athletic clothing and clean sneakers.
Beginner Teen Hip Hop (Ages 11-16)
Beginner-friendly teen hip hop covering fundamentals, grooves, musicality and age-appropriate choreography. Taught by Canyon Dance Academy. Dress code: comfortable athletic clothing and clean sneakers.
Beginner Tumbling (Ages 7-11)
Beginner tumbling at Caldwell Parks & Recreation, run as a floor-focused session alongside the Beginner Gymnastics program at Roberts Recreation Center. Unlike the Beginner Gymnastics sessions, this one carries no gender restriction in the registration catalog.
C-Town Boxing (Ages 13+)
The teen and older session of C-Town Boxing at Caldwell Parks & Recreation, running a half-hour longer than the 8-12 group. Certified USA Boxing coaches work with all experience levels, from fitness-focused participants through those pursuing competitive boxing. Equipment provided.
C-Town Boxing (Ages 8-12)
Youth boxing run by USA Boxing-registered coaches Edward Pizano and Mario Hernandez through Caldwell Parks & Recreation. Open to all experience levels with no prior boxing required. Participants get a high-energy cardio workout while learning self-defense and building discipline, confidence and self-esteem. All equipment is provided: come in gym clothes and tennis shoes.

Dance Foundations (Ages 6-10)
Dance Foundations gives dancers ages 6 to 10 a well-rounded introduction to several dance styles, including ballet, jazz and creative movement, for children who want to try more than one style and build a base. It is taught by Canyon Dance Academy in partnership with Caldwell Parks and Recreation. Dancers wear comfortable, fitted dancewear with ballet or jazz shoes.
Dynamic Cheer Squad: Juniors (Ages 8-12)
Dynamic Cheer Squad is Caldwell Recreation's recreational cheer program, led by coach and educator Missy Langan. The Juniors squad is for ages 8 to 12 and practices for 80 minutes on Wednesday evenings, in a larger group than the Minis. Cheerleaders learn cheer motions, jumps, chants, stunts and dance routines, and the squad performs at local events such as city parades and cheer showcases. Registration commits the cheerleader to the full three-month session, and a uniform (T-shirt and hair accessory) is required.

A parent-and-toddler gymnastics class at Caldwell Parks & Recreation run in partnership with SparkZone. Co-ed, 30 minutes, with a caregiver on the floor throughout. Introduces movement on gymnastics events through a safe, step-by-step curriculum while building early listening, turn-taking and independence.
Homeschool Karate with Shorin Ryu Karate (Ages 4+)
Daytime homeschool karate program designed to supplement a homeschool curriculum with traditional karate training, physical activity and practical self-defense. Small sessions ensure individualised attention. Instructor Ed Russell.
Intermediate Gymnastics (Ages 7-11)
Continuing gymnastics development at Caldwell Parks & Recreation across vault, bars, beam and floor. Gymnasts must be evaluated and approved by a coach before enrolling, so this is the next tier above Beginner Gymnastics rather than an open-entry class.
Kinder-Gym Gymnastics: Firecrackers (Ages 5-6)
Kindergarten-age gymnastics at Caldwell Parks & Recreation using imaginative play to build safe movement skills. Firecrackers is the ages 5-6 tier of the Kinder-Gym program. 55-minute classes at Roberts Recreation Center.
Kinder-Gym Gymnastics: Mini Sparklers (Ages 3-4)
Preschool gymnastics at Caldwell Parks & Recreation designed to get students moving their bodies safely through imaginative play. Mini Sparklers is the ages 3-4 tier of the Kinder-Gym program. 40-minute classes at Roberts Recreation Center.
LEGO Engineering (Ages 6-9)
Four-week LEGO engineering class where children build and explore gearing mechanisms and motorised machines, capture wind, and experiment with balanced and unbalanced forces and friction while measuring distance, time, speed and weight. Projects include LEGO cranes, ratchet fishing poles and a gear-changing racecar. Children work in pairs to build teamwork.
Martial Arts: Karate with Kevin Wagner (Ages 5-12, 6:00 p.m.)
The 6:00 p.m. section of Kevin Wagner's karate class is for ages 5 to 12 and meets Mondays and Wednesdays at the Roberts Rec Center Gym. It is the earlier of two sections for this age range; the 7:00 p.m. section follows it. The city's children's karate program blends traditional karate training with physical activity and practical self-defense, and aims to build discipline, concentration and self-confidence along with strength and coordination.

The city's children's karate program blends traditional karate training with physical activity and practical self-defense, and aims to build discipline, concentration and self-confidence along with strength and coordination. Instructors give each child individual attention.
Martial Arts: Shorin Ryu Karate: Teens (Ages 11-16)
The Teens section of Ed Russell's Shorin Ryu karate program is for ages 11 to 16 and meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 at the Roberts Rec Center Gym, before the adult class. The program describes Shorin Ryu as a path to physical and mental conditioning, with training in self-defense, fitness and self-discipline tailored to each student.

NFL Flag Football League (Grades K-4)
Non-contact NFL Flag Football league teaching football fundamentals, teamwork and sportsmanship. A five-game season for kindergarten through fourth graders of all skill levels; every participant receives an official NFL team jersey and flag belt.
Painting Class: Christmas Theme (All Ages)
A holiday-themed session of Caldwell Parks & Recreation's painting series with instructor Juliee Hanlon of Smeared Paint, a Fine Art graduate with 30+ years of commissioned work and murals. Students learn painting techniques while creating seasonal designs, in a relaxed class aimed at building confidence and creativity. All materials provided.
Painting Class: Fall Theme (Ages 7-12)
Relaxed painting class where young artists learn a variety of techniques while creating seasonal designs or their own ideas. Taught by Juliee Hanlon of Smeared Paint, who holds a fine art degree from London and has 30+ years of commissioned work and murals.
Pre-Ballet (Ages 3-5)
Pre-Ballet is an introduction to dance for preschoolers ages 3 to 5, taught by Canyon Dance Academy in partnership with Caldwell Parks and Recreation. Children explore movement, rhythm, balance and creativity through music, games and imaginative play, and practice classroom skills along the way. Dancers wear comfortable dancewear or clothes they can move in, with ballet shoes or bare feet, and hair pulled back if possible.
Prekindergarten AM (Ages 4-5)
Caldwell Recreation's three-day prekindergarten is for four- and five-year-olds who will start kindergarten in the 2027-28 school year, and meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Through play, children gain independence and basic kindergarten-readiness skills in literacy, math, science, writing, art and music, and are asked to think, solve problems, communicate and investigate their world. Class supplies and snacks are provided. Immunizations should be up to date, but the record is not required to enroll.
Prekindergarten PM (Ages 4-5)
Caldwell Recreation's two-day afternoon prekindergarten is for four- and five-year-olds who will start kindergarten in the 2027-28 school year, and meets Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. City of Caldwell preschool for children entering kindergarten in fall 2028 who are toilet trained. Builds early classroom skills, independence and social development, focusing on language, sharing, following directions, colours, shapes, letters, numbers and name recognition, plus fine motor skills.
Recreational Gymnastics at Caldwell Parks & Rec (SparkZone)
Recreational gymnastics offered through Caldwell Parks & Recreation as a satellite program of SparkZone Athletics, bringing SparkZone's coaching and curriculum to Caldwell. Preschool and youth recreational gymnastics/tumbling. Registration via the Caldwell Parks & Rec REC1 portal. (First gymnastics offering in Caldwell in the directory.)
Semi-Private Karate Classes (Ages 4+)
Semi-private karate lessons with instructor Ed Russell give small groups of no more than five students focused, 30-minute sessions. They are aimed at students preparing for tournaments, working on techniques for a belt test, or working toward fitness goals. Only students already enrolled in the regular karate program can sign up.
Tennis Clinic (Ages 6-9)
This four-session tennis clinic is the younger group, for ages 6 to 9, and meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings at Vallivue High School with instructor Lee Haskill. Players learn basic tennis skills, rules and scoring through drills, games and activities while working on coordination, agility and court movement. There is a maximum of eight players per coach, and the assistants are top varsity or collegiate players. Each player receives a free camp T-shirt.
