Season: Jun 1, 2026 to Aug 31, 2026

Half-Day AM (9am–12pm): arts/crafts, science, STEAM, team-building, games at the Recreation Building. Half-Day PM (1–4pm): sports, team bonding, competitions, and water activities at Hunter's Creek Sports Complex.

Cost

Its before- and after-school programs at Star Elementary and Independence Elementary can be booked by the day ($12 for the 7 to 9 am or 4 to 6 pm block, $24 for a full day) as well as by the week or month. Tumbling classes are sold by the month; cancellations after a program starts are not refunded but may be credited to the family's account, and no make-up policy is stated.

Independence Elementary Before & After School Program (Grades K-5)

City of Star Recreation before- and after-school care at Independence Elementary School for kindergarten through 5th grade. Before-school runs 7:00-9:00am and after-school 4:00-6:00pm, with a minimum of one day per week; a full 7:00am-6:00pm option is also offered.

Kickin' up Goals: Soccer Summer Camp

Mini Cheer (Fall 2026)

An introduction to cheerleading for PreK and kindergarten students, run by Star Recreation alongside its fall NFL Flag football league. Children learn basic cheer motions and simple routines, with the program focused on listening skills, teamwork and fun in a low-pressure setting. Teams perform halftime routines only, with no sideline cheering. Placement is based on current school enrollment and readiness.

NFL Flag Football (Fall 2026)

Star Recreation's fall NFL Flag football league, with practices and games at Star Middle School. Players are placed on teams at a skills-and-drills draft day. Each coach may keep a core five players from the previous team, and a coach's own child is placed on the coach's team automatically. Every player needs the league uniform: an NFL jersey, shorts and flags.

Play All Day: PE Games Summer Camp

Sideline Cheer (Fall 2026)

Star Recreation's co-ed recreational cheer program, in which kids cheer on the sidelines at the city's NFL Flag football games. Cheerleaders practice on Mondays and cheer at the Tuesday and Thursday games, with JV and varsity squads; varsity placement depends on skill level. The uniform is the same as last season's, so returning cheerleaders can reuse theirs if it still fits.

Star Elementary Before & After School Program (Ages 4-11)

City of Star Recreation before- and after-school care at Star Elementary School. Before-school runs 7:00-9:00am and after-school 3:45-6:00pm, with a minimum of one day per week; families can also register for the full 7:00am-6:00pm day.

Step Right Up! Carnival Camp

Tiny Tots Tumbling

A 30-minute beginner tumbling class for ages 2-6 at the Star Recreation Building, taught by Taylor H. Children explore basic tumbling skills through games and age-appropriate exercises that work on coordination, balance and motor skills. The class also aims to build body awareness and get young children interacting with others.

Tumbling with Taylor

Tumbling classes at the Star Recreation Building taught by instructor Taylor H., in three levels. Beginner is for ages 4-8 and runs 30 minutes; Intermediate is for ages 9-13 and runs 45 minutes; Advanced runs an hour and is for ages 12 and up on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or 9-16 on Wednesdays. Classes are sold by the month, and participants should wear clothes they can move around in.

Youth Soccer (Fall 2026)

Star Recreation's recreational soccer league, with teams grouped by birth year from a 3-year-old coed division through 5th and 6th grade. Teams practice once or twice on weekdays and play on Saturdays; the U4 division plays its games during practice time. Coaches may bring up to five players from their previous team, and the rest are placed at a draft.
