Twin Falls Trick or Treat 2026: Both Events, Same Day

Twin Falls has two big Halloween events for kids, and this year they're both on Saturday, October 31. They also overlap. If you were planning to do Trick or Treat Main Street and the police department's Trunk or Treat, you have a three-hour window to fit both into, and then actual Halloween night on top of that. Here's the timing, and how to survive it with small kids.

Both dates below come from the organizers themselves, posted within the last week.

The short version

• Trick or Treat Main Street — Saturday, October 31, 2–4 p.m., Main Avenue downtown. Free.
• Twin Falls Public Safety Trunk or Treat — Saturday, October 31, 3–5 p.m., 321 2nd Ave E. Free. Hosted by the Twin Falls Police and Fire Departments.
• They overlap from 3 to 4. Both are downtown.
• Then it's Halloween night. Whatever your neighborhood does happens after all of this.
• Go early. Both events get busy fast.
• Bring a wagon or a stroller. More on this below, because it's the thing I'd tell a friend first.

Trick or Treat Main Street

When: Saturday, October 31, 2–4 p.m. Where: Main Avenue, downtown Twin Falls Cost: Free Ages: Any. It skews young, and the two-hour window is about right for preschoolers.

Downtown businesses hand out candy along Main Avenue while the street fills with costumes. It's the long-running one, and it's the one most Twin Falls families mean when they say they're taking the kids downtown for Halloween.

The organizers posted the 2026 date five days before this went up: Saturday, 10/31/2026, 2 to 4 p.m. Worth flagging because an October 24 date circulated earlier, including in our own listing until we corrected it. It's the 31st.

Twin Falls Public Safety Trunk or Treat

When: Saturday, October 31, 3–5 p.m. Where: 321 2nd Ave E, Twin Falls Cost: Free Ages: Any. The contained lot makes it easier with toddlers than an open street does.

The third annual Trunk or Treat run jointly by the Twin Falls Police Department and the Twin Falls Fire Department. Decorated vehicles, officers and firefighters handing out candy, all in a lot rather than along a road. No registration, no cost.

The confined space is the practical advantage. On Main Avenue your kid is one of a few hundred in a crowd moving in both directions. In a parking lot you can see them.

Doing both in one afternoon

The overlap is real but manageable, because the two events are downtown and the Trunk or Treat runs an hour later on both ends.

The sequence that fits: be on Main Avenue at 2, when it starts and before the crowd thickens. Work the street for an hour or so. Head to 2nd Ave E somewhere around 3:30, which puts you into the Trunk or Treat for its back half.

Doing it the other way costs you, because arriving at Main Avenue at 4 means arriving as it ends.

If you have a kid who is going to be finished after ninety minutes, pick one. Main Street is the bigger spectacle. The Trunk or Treat is the easier one to manage.

What these are actually like

I've taken my kids to both. A few things I'd want to know before the first time.

They get busy. Not pleasantly-full busy, properly packed. Showing up early is the single change that makes the biggest difference, and it costs you nothing.

The costumes are most of the fun, and not only for the kids wearing them. My kids love getting dressed up for these, and a good chunk of the afternoon is just watching them notice everybody else — recognizing characters from the shows they watch, spotting the same costume on somebody else's kid, running into other kids and having a whole interaction about it. That's the part that sticks, more than the candy.

The other thing is the officers and firefighters. A trunk or treat is one of the few settings where kids meet the people behind the uniform when nothing is wrong — no emergency, no bad day, just somebody handing out candy next to a fire truck. That's a different kind of introduction than most kids get, and it's worth showing up for on its own.

Before you go

• Bring a wagon or a stroller, even if you think your kid is past it. This is the one I'd underline. Young kids get tired and then simply refuse to walk. I carried my three-year-old for over an hour at one of these because she was done and there was no negotiating with it. A wagon would have changed that whole afternoon.
• Get there at the start, not the middle. Both events are busiest in their second hour.
• Costume over a coat, or a coat that fits over the costume. It's the end of October in southern Idaho, and it's an outdoor afternoon.
• Bring a bag with a handle your kid can actually carry, or plan on carrying it yourself along with, potentially, the kid.
• Sort out a meeting point before you get out of the car. Main Avenue is crowded and moving in both directions.
• Don't schedule anything tight afterwards. Two events plus trick-or-treating at night is a long day for anyone under about six.
