Kids Activities (K-3rd)

Tween STEM is Twin Falls Public Library's weekly program for kids in 4th through 6th grade, with hands-on activities designed to get them excited about science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It meets on Tuesday afternoons during the school year and is the older companion to the library's Monday Early Elementary STEM program for kindergarten through 3rd grade. Sessions are listed on the library's online calendar.

CSI Youth Summer Camps
CSI Community Education runs non-credit summer day camps for kids and teens on the College of Southern Idaho campus in Twin Falls and at the Off-Campus Center in Burley, and has offered them for over 40 years. The current Twin Falls lineup includes MusicFest (ages 12-18), four theater camps covering ages 3 to 18, LEGO robotics camps for ages 5 to 14, and woodworking camps for ages 10-13 and 14-18. The Burley lineup has summer science camps for kindergarten through 5th grade and a STEM art camp for grades 3 to 6. Each camp has its own dates, ages and fee.

CSI Tech & Trades Academy (Ages 12-17)
A three-day career camp for ages 12 to 17 at the Applied Technology & Innovation Center (ATIC Building #500) on the CSI Twin Falls campus, aimed at interest in trades and manufacturing careers. Campers create products with computer-aided design (CAD), operate machinery under close supervision, take virtual tours of manufacturing facilities, learn about entrepreneurship and meet industry experts. Lunch is provided each day.

CSI Summer Ag Academy (Ages 12-17)
A four-day agriculture camp for ages 12 to 17 based in the Evergreen Building on the CSI Twin Falls campus. Students follow agricultural products from farm to table, covering crop production, soil, irrigation, animal care, veterinary technology, food processing and ag equipment. They do hands-on activities at the CSI Breckenridge Endowment Farm, Veterinary Clinic, Food Processing Lab and Fish Hatchery, and tour and meet local agriculture businesses. Lunch is provided each day.

Children's Museum of the Magic Valley (CMMV)

Twin Falls-based children's museum and discovery center for kids up to age 11 and their families. Currently operating as a 'Museum Without Walls' with mobile programming throughout South Central Idaho: Family STEAM Nights, Mini STEAM Events, 'CMMV On the Go' small-group programs, Prescription for Play, and a Teen LeaderSHIP program. Planned 14,000 sq ft physical venue at the corner of 3rd Ave South and Idaho Street South (downtown Twin Falls) will include a Dream Ship Climbing Structure, Kid City Wing, Snake River Water Wing, Agriculture Wing, Kids Teaching Kitchen, Art Studio & Maker Space, dedicated Toddler Area, and outdoor nature garden. Twin Falls Urban Renewal Agency has entered exclusive negotiations on a.50 acre lot. 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument

Hagerman, ID

U.S. National Park Service unit preserving Pliocene-epoch fossil deposits (3.5-million-year-old horse, mastodon, sabertooth cat, ground sloth, peccary, and 200+ other species). The Thousand Springs Visitor Center in Hagerman (open seasonally May 21 - September 7, 9am-5pm daily; off-season Wed-Sat 9am-4pm) is the only place to see fossils at the monument. Free admission. Free NPS Junior Ranger Program for kids: pick up the free booklet at the visitor center, complete the activities (varies by age), and earn a Junior Ranger badge sworn in by a ranger. The Junior Paleontologist booklet is a national NPS program available here. Ranger talks at the visitor center during operating hours. 4,000-acre monument with fossil-rich bluffs along the Snake River and a designated 3-mile Snake River Overlook + Emigrant Trail loop trail. Idaho's state fossil (the Hagerman Horse) was discovered here.

Hagerman Fossil Beds Junior Ranger Program
Free self-paced NPS Junior Ranger badge program. Pick up the Junior Ranger booklet at the Thousand Springs Visitor Center, complete the activities (which include paleontology-themed games, drawings, and observation tasks), and a ranger swears participants in as Junior Rangers with a free badge. The Junior Paleontologist booklet is also available as a companion national NPS program. Self-guided and drop-in; complete during one visit or across multiple trips. No registration required.
